When CRSC e.V. was formed in 2007, the important concept of wheelsets was addressed and put into practice. A pool of the most common types of wheelsets was established with contractual workshops in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. These were to be available primarily for repairs en route. Replacement prices were determined using a transparent und logical formula - taking account of the running tread diameter. Normal market prices were used as a guide when determining the cost rates.

The CRSC member workshops stock standard types of wheelsets for freight cars at their European locations. The wheelsets of these "pools" are the property of the workshops.
